Arrest Made In 2 Attacks Near Phoenix Canals: Police
A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, sexual assault and kidnapping in connection with two assaults near canals in Phoenix.

PHOENIX, AZ — A man is facing multiple charges in connection with two assaults, including one near the Arizona Canal Monday, according to police.
Charles Torbeck Jn Michely, 34, was arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail Tuesday, according to police. Michely was initially arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault for the second attack, but he is also suspected of attempted murder, sexual assault and kidnapping in the first attack, according to arrest records.
The woman who was sexually assaulted near the Arizona Canal on Monday near 200 East Las Palmaritas Drive identified Michely in a lineup as the man who attacked her, police said. Michely was wearing a GPS ankle monitor at the time of the assault that police said put him in the area of the attack.
