- ASU first-generation college student Juan Lopez Henao was selected as the 2023 ASU MLK Jr. Student Servant-Leadership awardee and will be honored on Jan. 19 at ASU's annual MLK Jr. Celebration Breakfast. Lopez Henao emigrated from Columbia, and his background has inspired him to become involved in educational outreach programs in Columbia. He plans to become an immigration lawyer for Hispanic communities after he graduates. (ASU News Now)
- Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) takes in about 20,000 animals a year, which means a greater need for donations. Each department of MCACC has its own Amazon wish list with items they are in need of. Recently, a local family gave a large donation of supplies, toys, and treats to the East Valley animal shelter, which was a huge help to kick off 2023. (Arizona's Family)
- A woman was allegedly shot by her ex-boyfriend in the drive-thru of a west Phoenix Whataburger on Tuesday. According to several witnesses, there were gunshots from the drive-thru area, and then they saw a woman run away screaming. Police are still searching for the identified suspect.
