Tragic: A 6-month-old baby has died after sustaining injuries in a Saturday night wreck.

Police believe the wreck happened after one of the drivers ran a red light.

PHOENIX, AZ — A Saturday evening collision on Buckeye Road left a 6-month-old baby dead and several others injured, according to a news release from the Phoenix Police Department.

Police believe that the wreck happened after the driver of a pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into another pickup truck at the intersection of Buckeye Road and 7th Street.

Emergency responders immediately took 6-month-old Ivory Gerald and a 3-year-old child, both passengers in a GMC pickup truck, to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries. Gerald did not survive her injuries. The other passengers in the GMC pickup, a 23-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman and a 51-year-old woman were all transported to a nearby hospital as well for life-threatening injuries, police said.

The 40-year-old man driving the Ford pickup truck refused to be taken to a hospital for treatment, according to police.
