Chandler Explosion Was Accidental: Police

Chandler Police announced Tuesday that last week's explosion at Platinum Printing that injured four men was accidental.

PHOENIX, AZ — The explosion at Platinum Printing in Chandler last week was caused by an accidental natural gas leak, according to the Chandler Police Department.

"The findings by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) National Response Team and investigative partners determined that the explosion was caused by an unintentional natural gas leak ignited by an independent ignition source," Gabriel Pinon, ATF special agent in charge, said in a news release from Chandler police.

The explosion occurred at 9:23 a.m. Thursday at Platinum Printing, 4940 W. Ray Road in Chandler. Four men were seriously injured in the blast, including three who were inside the Platinum Printing building and one who was inside a nearby eyeglass repair business, Chandler police said.

The three men inside the print shop were 29-year-old Dillion Ryan, 39-year-old Andrew Ryan and 29-year-old Parker Milldebrandt. The man at the eyeglass repair business was 58-year-old Glenn Jordan.

All four men were still receiving treatment at a local hospital as of Tuesday afternoon, police said.
