An excessive heat warning marks a period of very hot temperatures, even by local standards, the National Weather Service says.
"Don't let your guard down when it comes to protecting yourself from the heat," the National Weather Service said in a Facebook post. "Even though it's September and the sun is less intense, heat illness and death can still occur."
