Here are the top stories in Phoenix today:
- Phoenix Union High School District's "Vax to the Max" campaign to get more students vaccinated is offering $100 gift cards to fully vaccinated students. The campaign is meant to help the district reach its goal of having 85 percent of students vaccinated across all of its campuses. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
- This weekend communities across the Valley join those all over the country to mark the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. The city of Phoenix put out a tribute video, Scottsdale has a display showing the names and photos of all those who died in the attacks as well as a ceremony and Tempe has a full weekend set for its Healing Field Memorial at Tempe Beach Park. - The $5.5 million sale of almost 16 acres in South Phoenix is set to bring much needed housing to the South Mountain Area. The land was purchased by The Brown Group which plans to break ground later this year on a build-to-rent community with 166 units. (AZ Big Media)
- A three-story office building at 500 E. Thomas Road is set to get a restoration. The building was designed by one of Arizona's most notable midcentury architects and was originally meant to look like it was floating but later additions nixed that. The new owner wants to bring that look back. (ABC15 Arizona)
- At The Yard Milkshake Bar in Downtown Phoenix you can get a milkshake in a jar piled with goodies like a cinnamon role or a glazed doughnut. The shakes come with names just as fun as their ingredients, like the Mint Green Monster, the Doughnut Touch My Coffees and Cream and the Camelback Mountain, for some local flair. (Phoenix New Times)
