Man's Body Recovered From Scottsdale Aquatic Center
The 32-year-old man broke into the Eldorado Aquatic Center and became trapped in a water slide pipe.
PHOENIX — A body has been recovered from a water slide pipe at the Eldorado Aquatic Center in Scottsdale, officials said. The man broke into the property and became trapped early Monday morning.
Scottsdale police were on patrol in the area near Miller Road and Oak Street around 12:30 a.m. and heard muffled cries for help, according to a news release from the Scottsdale Police Department. Officers were eventually able to determine the calls were coming from inside the Eldorado Aquatic Center, which had been locked. It was determined that the 32-year-old man, believed to be transient, had climbed over the fence and into the steel water slide support structure, becoming stuck.
"Officers and fire personnel originally had limited verbal contact with the subject, but he soon became unresponsive and was tragically determined to be deceased," the police department said in a statement.
