Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. A brand-new Phoenix playground is focusing on child development. The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department and Phoenix City Councilwoman Ann O’Brien partnered to build the new playground at Westown Park, which features two play structures and two independent play spaces for children ages 2-12. The playground is now open and ready for use. (Signals AZ)
  2. A woman claims a Phoenix officer who was acquitted of sexual assault has been ripping off customers with a new furniture business. Anne Giamundo and her wife Leigha placed an order with an up-and-coming furniture business, Custom Pup Crates; however, after making the payment, they were met with silence. Sean Pena, the owner of the company, was fired in 2020 and recently stood trial after he was accused of sexually assaulting multiple women. Giamundo says it took media involvement for Pena to fully refund her. (Arizona's Family)
  3. Waymo has announced an expansion to Sky Harbor Airport. As of Tuesday, "Trusted Testers" can now hail a ride with the fully electric, autonomously driven cars anywhere between Downtown Phoenix and Phoenix Sky Harbor. According to the company, the expansion will begin with a remote autonomous specialist in the driver's seat and will transition to become fully autonomous in the weeks to come. (12news.com KPNX)
