Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. A local Phoenix-based nonprofit is helping single mothers earn their college degrees. During the organization’s annual holiday event earlier this month, Helping Hands for Single Moms announced that each mom to get $1,000 to go towards their degree due to an anonymous donation.   2. Arizona U.S. representatives called for answers from Southwest Airlines as the carrier continued to cancel hundreds of flights in and out of Phoenix. Wednesday saw more than 180 scheduled Southwest flights canceled at Sky Harbor Airport, and more than 166 Southwest scheduled for Thursday have also been canceled. (KTAR.com)
  3. Arizona Republican Kari Lake filed a notice of appeal on Tuesday as part of her case to challenge the results of the November election. Last week, a Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled that Lake's legal team did not sufficiently prove that there was voting misconduct that led to her election loss. (KTAR)
