Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:
- Mysterious dinosaur statues have been installed in a Phoenix homeless encampment. The area was a source of conflict among residents in the area, the city, and the people who live in the encampment. The city has not revealed any information on the installment of the large, heavy dinosaurs and their cement platforms, which effectively prohibit building any structures. The 900 people estimated to live in the encampment were removed. (Phoenix New Times)
- Like many urban hospitals, Valleywise Health is struggling to serve historically marginalized communities. Although serving patients with complicated needs and financial hardships is not a new problem, it is an increasingly difficult one. Most of the patients are on Medicare, and 30 percent of them speak a language other than English. (The Arizona Republic)
- On Wednesday night, Katherine Lee Adkins was in a car accident in central Phoenix. After being transported to the hospital by police, Adkins died from her injuries. According to witnesses, Adkins was a passenger in a truck that was struck by a sedan and forced to roll over, ejecting her from the vehicle. (12news.com KPNX)
