Here are the top stories today in Phoenix:
- As the housing markets begin to cool in other cities across the United States, the market in Phoenix is still on fire. Housing prices have risen 32 percent over the past year. And in some metro neighborhoods, like certain areas of Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, that number is closer to 40 percent. (AZ Big Media)
- There are plenty of family-friendly fall and Halloween events going on this weekend, including candy crawls to participate in and pumpkin patches to visit. (Phoenix Patch)
- Ballet Arizona opens its season Oct. 29 with a series of short ballets in one show called "Contemporary Moves." Other shows on the docket for this season include the holiday classics "The Nutcracker," and the world premiere of "Juan Gabriel." (Phoenix Patch)
- Road rage is on the rise in the Valley, as shown by three recent altercations that happened in the area within 48 hours of one another. Experts say that de-escalation is key when trying to avoid a dangerous road rage fight. Some recommendations are not to engage with an angry driver and to try to find an escape route.
