Here are the top stories in Phoenix today:

  1. Phoenix is the worst city in the nation for traffic fatalities, but the city is developing a plan to do something about it. Phoenix sees more than 80 crashes each day with a death every other day. The crash rate has increased more than 4 percent over the past five years. (KJZZ)
  2. Jack in the Box is testing plant-based Impossible burgers at 120 locations in Phoenix and the surrounding metro area. The trial began Monday and runs through Dec. 12. Impossible burgers are designed to look and taste like meat patties. (KTAR.com)
  3. Phoenix is No. 1 in the nation for metro-to-metro population growth. Metro-to-metro growth is when a person moves from one large metropolitan area to another. Phoenix gained almost 50,000 people from other metropolitan areas each year from 2015-2019. (AZ Big Media)
  4. The owner of Uncle Sam's, a Phoenix restaurant, was awarded a $5 million settlement after accusing former Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office of defaming him and violating his rights. The restaurant's manager was previously awarded $400,000 after making similar claims. (Phoenix Patch)
