Here are the top three stories in Yuma today:

  1. Border Patrol agents are reportedly separating migrants from their pets. The Humane Society of Yuma is reportedly trying to address the issue but the shelter is regularly at capacity. Border Patrol agents are reportedly not working with the shelter to house the animals. Yuma officials are concerned for the animals as the temperatures regularly hit triple digits. (Washington Examiner)
  2. Yuma Border Patrol agents reportedly apprehended 15 migrants that were on the FBI's terrorist screening database last month. That is the highest number of terror list individuals apprehended in one month by the agency. Customs and Border Protection reports that 240,000 migrants were caught last month in total. (Washington Times)
  3. Yuma has unveiled its new mission and core values to the community. The statement is entitled "The Yuma Way". It reportedly reflects the city's culture, direction, and motivation. "We are a strong team dedicated to serving our community, building relationships, and creating opportunities," is the Yuma Way. Professionalism, Accountability, Integrity, and Responsiveness are Yuma's core values. (City of Yuma)
