• 66-Acre Yuma Annexation On Hold (azbex.com) — A 66-acre annexation at 40th Street and Avenue 4½E is paused until the City of Yuma receives a required petition from a utility company with infrastructure in the area. The land, owned by several entities including the Humane Society of Yuma, is slated for agricultural and industrial uses, with zoning expected to stay comparable after annexation.
   

• Arizona Western hosts first ever fall commencement (kyma.com) — Arizona Western College in Yuma just held its first-ever fall commencement, giving more than 180 students a chance to graduate closer to the end of their semester. Many were first-generation college graduates, celebrating with family and helping launch what the school hopes will become a new local tradition.
   

• Man rescues blind dog from remote desert area in Yuma (azfamily.com) — A blind dog abandoned in the desert near Yuma is getting a new lease on life after local fisherman Nathan Ivy heard his cries while at Mittry Lake and hiked out for a rescue. Ivy carried the elderly pup to safety, named him Stevie Wonder, and is now seeking a permanent home and funds for possible sight-restoring surgery.
