Alameda Municpal Power Reaches Net Energy Metering

If you are able to interconnect your rooftop solar system into AMP's distribution system by Monday, July 31, 2017, you will be credited.

From Alameda Municipal Power: Alameda Municipal Power reached its cap for the net energy metering (NEM) compensation plan on May 31. Read on to understand how you may be affected.

By law, AMP must make NEM available to all renewable generation customers until total installed renewable capacity is equal to 5 percent of aggregate customer demand. AMP’s NEM capacity value now surpasses AMP’s cap of 3.6 megawatts (MW).

If you are able to interconnect your rooftop solar system into AMP’s distribution system by Monday, July 31, 2017, you will be credited under the NEM plan. If you interconnect after July 31, you will be placed on AMP’s Eligible Renewable Generation (ERG) plan.

Both plans credit you for excess energy exported to the grid, but the terms are different for each plan. You can learn more about both plans at www.alamedamp.com/for-your-home/solar-installation-home.
