ALAMEDA, CA -- In October, the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) will begin the work of repairing its sewer along segments of Buena Vista Avenue. Construction will extend to February 2023.

"This major project is being undertaken as an emergency to address possible pipeline failure and the potential for sinkholes," the City of Alameda said in a statement.

During the project, parts of Buena Vista Avenue will be closed in the west bound direction 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, according to the city. Trucks will be diverted from Buena Vista Avenue to Lincoln Avenue between Grand Street and Constitution Way, and street parking will be restricted. EBMUD will work to control odor; however, there may be intermittent impacts.
