Sandbags Available To Alameda Residents Beginning November 1

By working together, Alameda residents and the City can help lessen the impacts of storms this season.

October 20, 2021

To help Alameda residents prepare for storm season, the City of Alameda’s Public Works Department is providing up to five free sandbags to each Alameda household. Sandbags can be retrieved anytime starting November 1, from a self-serve sandbag station in the courtyard behind City Hall West, 950 W Mall Square, at Alameda Point.

If assistance loading sandbags is needed, staff will be available Mondays and Fridays, from 12-1 pm, throughout November, and on Saturday, November 20, from 8am to 12 noon at the Lexington St at W Tower Ave sandbag station.

Please note that if it is storming, staff may not be available for assistance, as they are out tending to storm-related service requests from the public, Alameda Police Department, and others. Please remember to wear a mask at the sandbag stations.
