Man Killed In Fatal Angeles National Forest Crash Identified
Authorities are still piecing together what caused an Acton man to lose control of his vehicle in the Angeles National Forest near Altadena.
ALTADENA, CA — A 55-year-old Acton man was identified as the driver who lost control of his car Tuesday night and fatally drove off the side of a road in the Angeles National Forest near.
William Gibbard was driving on Big Tujunga Canyon Road near County Fire Marker 2.92 when he lost control of his car sometime before 10 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said. Gibbard’s car drove off the side of the road and rolled 185 feet down a mountainside.
He died at the scene, the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office reported.

It’s unknown how Gibbard lost control of his car, and the crash remains under investigation, the CHP said.
