2 Female Hikers Allegedly Assaulted Near Lake Berryessa

Solano County sheriff's deputies are seeking a man who allegedly assaulted and robbed two female hikers at gunpoint Friday afternoon.

SOLANO COUNTY - Solano County sheriff's deputies are seeking a man who allegedly assaulted and robbed two female hikers at gunpoint Friday afternoon at a wildlife area near Lake Berryessa.

Around 3 p.m., two women were hiking in the Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve in unincorporated Solano County, according to sheriff's officials.

An unknown man approached the two women, aged 18 and 59.

The man brandished a handgun and forced the two women off the trail to a secluded area, sheriff's officials said. The suspect then assaulted one of the women, before demanding money from pair.

The suspect then fled on foot, according to sheriff's officials.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man about 25 years old, 5 foot 5 inches to 5 foot 6 inches tall, with short black hair and a light mustache.

He wore a burgundy shirt, black pants, and gray and white tennis shoes.

Additionally, the suspect spoke broken English and had a heavy accent, sheriff's officials said.

The sheriff's department recommends that hikers in the area be aware of their surroundings and stay in groups. They also recommend that hikers report any suspicious activity.
