Berkeley Homeless Man Accused Of Dragging Woman

Deshaun Montgomery is accused of kidnapping and robbery.

BERKELEY, CA -- A homeless man in Berkeley was arrested over the weekend for allegedly robbing and kidnapping a woman. Berkeleyside reported the incident happened Sunday morning leading to the arrest of Deshaun Montgomery.

"Berkeley Police Lt. Dave Lindenau said Montgomery approached the woman — who was a stranger to him — at Bancroft Way and Fulton Street, and began to pull her across the street while telling her to follow him," the news site reported.

"Eventually, the woman was able to break free and run away. But Montgomery chased after her, and continued to grab her and tell her to come with him."

The news site reported a Good Samaritan "drove the woman —who was clearly distressed —to the Berkeley Police Department," and responding officers arrested Montgomery.
