Berkeley Hot Tub Guy Deward Hastings Dies: Report
The long-time Berkeley resident offered free soaks in his backyard hot tub for nearly 50 years.
BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley's "Hot Tub Guy," Deward Hastings, was found dead in his backyard hot tub Saturday, according to the Bay Area News Group. He was 78.
Hastings got his nickname because he offered free soaks in his handcrafted redwood hot tub for nearly 50 years.
Berkeley Police Officer Byron White said Hasting's death does not appear suspicious.

“It was one of the most impressive acts of generosity I’d ever seen on private property," said his neighbor Greg Callahan. "I knew whoever was doing this is very special.”
