Andrew Kelly announced his plans to transfer to UCSB Wednesday in an Instagram post.
BERKELEY, CA — Less than a month after declaring his eligibility for the NBA draft, Andre Kelly announced plans to stay in the UC system, but the Cal star won’t return to Berkeley.
Kelly announced his plans to join the Gauchos Wednesday in Instagram post in which he said he plans to pursue a Master’s degree at Santa Barbara.
Kelly, who still has NBA aspirations, has a year of eligibility left after suffering an ankle injury Jan. 29 against USC. He was averaging 13.4 points and 8.4 rebounds before he was hurt.

“I’d like to thank my family for helping me with such a difficult decision,” Kelly said on Instagram.
“I have decided to withdrawal from this years NBA draft as I am not 100% healthy and feel that another year of development will serve me better. I would like to thank the entire Cal staff for all they have done for me over the last 4 years, I have enjoyed my time here tremendously. I would like to announce that I am committing to UCSB to pursue my masters degree, compete for a championship, and work towards my lifelong goal of playing in the NBA.
