Cal Fires Head Coach Days After Blowout Loss In Rivalry Game

BERKELEY, CA — Cal Football has parted ways with head coach Justin Wilcox after nine seasons, university athletic officials said.
The announcement came days after Stanford defeated Cal 31-10 in the annual rivalry game.

Wilcox was in his ninth season as head coach at Cal. During this time, he compiled a 48-55 record and now ranks sixth for wins in the program's history, according to the university.
In those nine seasons, Wilcox led the Bears to five bowl games. He will be replaced in the interim by Senior Offensive Assistant Nick Rolovich, university officials said.

After a promising start to the year where they started 3-0, the Bears are currently sitting on a 6-5 record and are eligible for a bowl game. The team will play its final game of the season Saturday against the Southern Methodist University Mustangs.
