Earthquake Rattles Berkeley — The 6th One This Week
The quake struck southeast of Berkeley early Thursday morning, not far from the center of Monday's larger temblor.
BERKELEY, CA — A preliminary 2.8-magnitude earthquake rattled the region about three kilometers southeast of Berkeley Thursday morning, according to the US Geological Society.
The quake, the sixth to strike near Berkeley this week, reached a depth of 8.4 kilometers. It struck at 5:55 a.m. Residents around the East Bay reported feeling either nothing or a very light tremble, according to USGS's interactive "Did You Feel It?" map.
Early Monday morning, a 4.3-magnitude quake struck Berkeley that was felt as far away as Sacramento and Salinas. No injuries were reported or warnings issued, though BART trains were delayed due to a track inspection. The epicenter of the quake was near the UC Berkeley campus and on the Hayward Fault

Since then, several small quakes between magnitudes 2 and 3 have struck with an epicenter in the Berkeley area, including three on Tuesday.
