Hydrogen Fueling Station Opens In Berkeley

The University Avenue Station is the fourth opened in the Bay Area by Shell.

BERKELEY, CA — A fueling station for hydrogen vehicles has opened in Berkeley, the California Fuel Cell Partnership announced.

The station at 1250 University Ave. is the fourth opened in the Bay Area by Shell at its service stations and will be open 24 hours a day.

"With two fueling nozzles, two cars will be able to fuel simultaneously, increasing the number of vehicles served in a shorter time," the partnership said.

Hydrogen stations have also been opened at three Shell locations in San Francisco. The fuel is made 100 percent from biogas to meet a California requirement that at least one-third of hydrogen fuel come from renewable sources.
