Man Suspected In Berkeley Protest Assault Captured On Camera, Police Say

BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley police said today that they are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who's wanted in connection with a robbery and assault during simultaneous protests for and against President Donald Trump in April.
At about noon on April 15, the victim was live-streaming the protest in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park when a group of people attacked him and stole his cellphone, according to police.
Police said the person in a picture they are releasing today has been identified by the victim as one of the people who assaulted him.
The photo shows a young black male with a goatee who was wearing a black hat and a black jacket. Berkeley police said anyone who can identify the person in the picture or who has information regarding about the crime should call their detective division at (510) 981-5818.
