Overnight Construction On Bay Area Highway May Cause Traffic Delays: Officials

The nighttime construction is expected to take place from Oct. 16 through Nov. 21, according to Caltrans officials.

VALLEJO, CA — Part of a Bay Area Highway will be under construction over the next months and is expected to cause delays for drivers in the area, authorities said.

Crews will be working on State Route 29 (Sonoma Boulevard) from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Oct. 16, Caltrans officials said. The construction is expected to last through Nov. 21.

Officials say construction will span six miles from Mini Drive to Cal Poly Maritime Academy. That part of the highway will be limited to one lane in each direction, according to the Vallejo Police Department.

The construction is part of the Rehabilitation and Complete Street Project along SR-29, which consists of deconstructing the current medians and lanes along the route. Officials expect the project to be done by the fall of next year.

Drivers traveling through the area should expect shifting traffic patterns, brief delays, and reduced speed limits, Vallejo police said.
