Power Outage Affecting Schools in Berkeley Unified School District
District staff are bringing in battery-powered lighting for restrooms and other common areas.
BERKELEY, CA — A power outage in Berkeley Wednesday morning affected schools in the Berkeley Unified School District, district officials said.
However, schools remain open and were operating on a normal schedule Wednesday.

Berkeley High School lost power in the G and H buildings and internet service and phones were down.
Washington Elementary School lost power and internet and phone service. Berkeley Technology Academy also lost power, internet and phone service but all three have been restored as of just after noon.

The King Child Development Center has power and internet service, but the phones are working on only a limited basis. Emerson Elementary School also has power but no phone or internet service.
PG&E did not immediately respond to a request for information about the power outage.
