BHHS Wrestlers Attend CIF Individuals Meet

The Normans have eight wrestlers who qualified for the tournament.

 wrestlers are taking to the mats Friday and Saturday for the two-day CIF Southern Section Individuals Inland Division Wrestling Championships in Cornona.

"Last year we had six make it to the CIF Individuals tournament," BHHS head coach Mark Mead said. "This year we have eight."

Wrestlers get the chance to attend the individual tournament based on their regular season records as part of the Pioneer League. BHHS finished third in the league and had eight wrestlers qualify by finishing as one of the top three performers in their weight class.

The Normans competing in the CIF Individuals tournament are:

  • Matt Kohanbash, 121-pound weight class (3rd in Pioneer League)
  • Dylan Lojac, 154-pound weight class (1st in Pioneer League)
  • Ralph Yun, 162-pound weight class (2nd in Pioneer League)
  • Nick Sands, 172-pound weight class (3rd in Pioneer League)
  • Bram Geiderman, 184-pound weight class (3rd in Pioneer League)
  • Marshall Stevens, 197-pound weigh class (1st in Pioneer League)
  • Axel Pinotti, 222-pound weight class (3rd in Pioneer League)
  • Julian Jackson, Heavyweight (1st in Pioneer League)

The results of the tournament will determine how many Normans make it to the CIF Southern Section Masters Tournament. The top five wrestlers in each individual weight bracket will qualify.

"Last year was a successful year. We had one kid make it to the Masters," Mead said. "This year we feel like we have two or three guys who can make it."
