Scott Baio Cites Beverly Hills-Area Encampments As A Reason He's Leaving LA
The "Happy Days" actor tweeted a photo of a homeless encampment near the Beverly Center as part of his announcement.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Actor Scott Baio says he's planning to leave California after nearly five decades due to homelessness in Los Angeles.
The "Happy Days" actor tweeted his announcement last week, along with a screenshot from an April KTLA story about homeless encampments on the LA-Beverly Hills border near the Beverly Center.
"After 45 years, I’m making my way to finally 'exit stage right' from California," he tweeted.

He quoted from the KTLA article, which stated results from the most recent Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority survey of homeless people. During the 2022 count, there were some 69,000 people experiencing homelessness in LA County and 41,000 in the city.
His Twitter announcement earned both jeers and cheers, including from one commenter who encouraged him to "join the rest of us in Florida."

CNN reported that Baio lives in Woodland Hills. He hasn't revealed where he's moving to.
Baio, a conservative, has become better known for his controversial and factually incorrect stances than his acting in recent years: He's called Barack Obama a Muslim and spread Sandy Hook conspiracy theories.
At the height of the MeToo movement, Baio's "Charles in Charge" co-star Nicole Eggert accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was as young as 14. Baio denied the allegations and Los Angeles County prosecutors in 2018 announced Baio would not be charged because the statute of limitations had expired.
