BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Stacey Abrams, who earned national prominence for her Democratic campaign work in Georgia, is set to speak in Beverly Hills next week as she tours with her latest novel.

Abrams will appear with actor Dulé Hill ("The West Wing, "Suits") April 2 at the Writers Guild Theater as part of an event organized by Writers Bloc and sponsored by KCRW and the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.

Abrams' novel "Rogue Justice" centers around the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court — the country's "secret court" — which has the power to grant permission for espionage on companies suspected of dealing with terrorists.

"She braids murder, power, corruption, and our judicial system into a legal thriller that amplifies the clear and present danger of the threat to democracy in the United States. Abrams’ insider knowledge propels her story, which feels unsettlingly relevant today," organizers wrote of the book.

After she was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2006, Abrams became the state's first Black female House Minority leader. She rose to national prominence during her 2018 gubernatorial campaign, which was focused on get-out-the vote efforts amid allegations of voter suppression.
