Campbell Man To Be Honored By DA For Stopping Potential Shooting

Campbell resident Farukh Mamedov called Campbell Police just after midnight July 9 to report a suspected prowler in the area.

CAMPBELL, CA — A South Bay man is set to be honored by Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen later this month for helping police arrest a man who was suspected of possessing an illegal arsenal and a racist manifesto with threats.

Campbell resident Farukh Mamedov called Campbell Police just after midnight July 9 to report a suspected prowler in the area seen from his security camera. Officers who responded found AR-style rifles, a manifesto with anti-Semitic writings and a potential pipe bomb after stopping the suspect’s truck. The writing also contained a written plan to attack a sporting goods store, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

The suspect, 32-year-old Wesley Charles Martines, was arrested on multiple felony charges.
