Felon With Firearm Violation Sentenced To 80 Months In Prison

A year ago, the San Jose resident pleaded guilty to the illegal firearm possession charge as a convicted felon.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Josue Rocha-Vallejo was sentenced Tuesday to over 6 1/2 months in prison for possessing a firearm as a felon, a charge he pleaded guilty to almost a year ago, the U.S. Attorney's Office reported.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Edward J. Davila. The judge found that Rocha-Vallejo had seven guns, including two semi-automatic rifles and a high capacity magazine allowing the firearm to fire more than 15 bullets before having to be reloaded. In addition, one gun had been stolen.

The defendant will also be required to serve a three-year period of supervised release.
