Majority of Summer Winds Nursery Staff Displaced by Fire Absorbed by Campbell Location
The three-alarm fire on Aug. 29 leveled the San Jose location.
Vice President of Operations Leo Goria got a call to his cell phone .
"One of our employees that lives out there, one of his friends told him what was going on," Goria said. "He called my cell phone and I went down there that night."
The three-alarm fire that destroyed the Summer Winds Nursery location in San Jose began at 11:45 p.m. Aug. 28 and continued through the morning of Aug. 29.

Goria said that the Santa Clara County Fire Department will be giving him the green light to come in very soon but said that he won't be able to do much with the stock left at that location.
There is still much to do at the remains of the Branham Avenue location, he said, but the majority of the employees there will be transferred to other locations.

"The vast majority will be going to our Campbell location," he said.
Since the fire, the Summer Winds Nursery on Winchester Boulevard has seen an uptick in foot traffic and inventory, similar to the inventory at the San Jose location is moving much faster, he said.
"We have seen an increase in business there," Goria said. "We will be ramping up the inventory soon."
Store hours at the Campbell location will tentatively stay the same for now, but may be seeing an addition in the near future, he said.
