Pedestrian Struck, Killed In South San Jose

The fatal incident happened Monday night.

SAN JOSE, CA — A male pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in South San Jose on Monday night, police said. Officers responded to the fatality at 10:24 p.m. on Tully Road east of Galveston Avenue. A witness saw the man walking north across Tully Road. A woman driving a Nissan Rogue was traveling west on Tully Road when she hit the man and knocked him to the ground, police said.

The man died at the scene.

The woman stayed on the scene and cooperated with police.

Seventeen people have died in fatal car crashes on San Jose city streets since the beginning of this year, according to police.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Detective Kelvin Pham at 408-277-4654. Police said the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office will release the man's identity after his next of kin is notified of the death.
