Fatal Crash Knocked Out Power, Closed San Tomas Expressway
The crash that occurred between El Camino Real and Cabrillo Avenue early Thursday split an electrical utility pole in two.
SUNNYVALE, CA -- A 45-year-old San Jose man was identified as the victim of a fatal crash Thursday that knocked out power to thousands in Santa Clara early Thursday, Sunnyvale police reported.
The single-car crash involving a Mercedes Benz traveling at a high rate of speed resulted in an electrical outage that affected 2,722 Silicon Valley Power customers. The victim hit the utility pole with such force, it broke in half, police said.
