Australian Grill Serves Up Kangaroo Burgers, Organic Dishes and Yummy Desserts in Carlsbad

The restaurant in downtown Carlsbad is the only Australian restaurant in all of Southern California.

Stefanie Isakizis moved to the area last May from Sydney Australia and opened The Australian Grill in Carlsbad Village at 2961 State Street in September 2012.

"This business was for sale and no one uses organic food around here," explained Isakizis about why she opened the restaurant in Carlsbad.

The restaurant features mostly organic food except for kangaroo meat. "Kangaroo can't be organic because it's a wild animal and you can't control what it eats. It's very lean meat and tastes like beef," said Isakizis.
