A bicyclist who was struck by a van today in Carlsbad was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The cyclist, whose name was not immediately available, made an unsafe
lane change on El Camino Real near Alga Road and was struck by the oncoming
vehicle about 7:40 a.m., according to police.
The patient, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Palomar
Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries, police said.
The Carlsbad Police Department's traffic unit will conduct an
investigation into the crash.
