Carlsbad Teen Arrested After Radio Shack Armed Robbery in Encinitas
The Sheriff's Department is still looking for another suspect, a female who helped committ the crime.

Encinitas Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on 02/28/13 at 10:35 a.m. at the Radio Shack, located at 288 N. El Camino Real, in the city of Encinitas. Two suspects, one Hispanic male and one Hispanic female, entered the Radio Shack for the purpose of committing a robbery. Both suspects brandished firearms and threatened to shoot employees and a customer if they did not do what they were told. The suspects took cash, media game consoles, cell phones, a television and other electronic items from Radio Shack and personal property belonging to the employees and a customer.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified Carlsbad resident Stephen Barrera, 19 years of age, as the male suspect in the robbery. A warrant for his arrest was issued on 05-31-13. Last week, on 06-05-13, Barrera walked into the Carlsbad Police Station with his mother and turned himself in for arrest. Barrera was taken into custody and booked into the Vista Jail for the robbery charge. Bail is set at $450,000.
The female suspect was described as being a Hispanic female with dark hair, medium skin tone, thin build and about 5'4" tall.
