Carlsbad's First Pony & Braid Bar Now Open

Bella D'ora Spa located at 2386 Faraday Ave, Suite 125 is doing something unique.

"We’ve seen pony and braid bars emerge in larger cities like Los Angeles and Manhattan, and we are excited to bring the concept to San Diego," said salon co-owner Christine Alvarado. "These looks can be difficult to achieve on your own – anyone who has ever tried to braid the back of their head can vouch for that. That’s why this service is vital to women who want to stand out in the crowd." 
All that, plus it’s great for summertime during those hot days.

The salon’s hair stylists have developed five braids and pony tail themes to choose from:
The Metropolis: Think sleek, modern, sophisticated and straight off the runway.
The Hippie Chic: Our take on Bohemian trends, with dashes of flower power.
The Princess Bride: Romantic and whimsical; it’s a fairy tale princess for the 21st Century.
The Cowgirl: Cute, fun, playful – this look is meant to lasso any cowboy’s heart.
The Rock Star: Punk, edgy, avant garde – it’s gravity defying with splashes of color.

The salon’s website has photos that emulate what each theme might look like, but guests can work with their stylist to come up with the perfect fit for their hair and personality. To that end, a "look book" filled with pictures of different braids and ponies has been created to allow guests to tap into their creative side and choose from a plethora of options.
"We are really excited," Alvarado said. "This can be for just a fun, everyday look – or a special occasion: a night on the town, a wedding, a big date."

The braids last about two to three days.

To kick off its new service, the salon will host a "HOW TO" night on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests will learn how to braid three different styles, and will be treated to light refreshments and a free gift tote filled with goodies worth over $45. The cost to attend is only $25 per person.
