Make an Appointment for Free Household Hazerous Waste Drop Off Event in Carlsbad
Carlsbad residents can get rid of old paint, pesticides, cleaners and other household hazardous waste for free at the city's sixth annual household hazardous waste collection event, Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
To participate in the city’s sixth annual household hazardous waste collection event, Saturday, April 20, residents must make an appointment beginning April 1, via the city’s website, carlsbadca.gov/hhw, or appointment line, 760-602-7559.
Proof of Carlsbad residency is required. Location information will be provided once an appointment is confirmed.
Appointments filled up quickly last year, so residents are encouraged to sign up as early as possible. At the collection site, residents may dispose of one carload of waste per scheduled appointment (up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds). Residents are asked to make an additional appointment if they have more than one carload of waste, so they comply with laws governing how much household hazardous waste may be transported in one car. Hazardous items should be transported with caution by placing items in sealed and sturdy containers to ensure that they do not spill.
