Fifth grade students with Jefferson Elementary's Kids for Peace program have their own Peace Park thanks to volunteers from North Coast Church who spent a weekend working on the park and other projects around North County.
Kids for Peace students wrote down their ideas, then North Coast project manager, designer , and volunteers from North Coast Church built the park. The Peace Park has a dry waterfall, two bridges, a mandala, and a quiet seating area where students can plan their future community service projects.
Carlsbad Mayor Matt Hall took time from his busy schedule on June 5 to attend the Peace Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. He told the crowd, "I want to thank the young men and women who are member of Kids for Peace. I hope you continue your good work."
