• Speaker to discuss ‘Preserving Ecosystems' at Batiquitos Lagoon event (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Carlsbad residents can catch a free ‘Preserving Ecosystems’ talk at Batiquitos Lagoon’s Nature Center on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m., 7380 Gabbiano Lane. Conservation expert Tito Marchant will highlight WildCoast’s work protecting mangroves, whale lagoons, reefs, and wetlands, including collaborative restoration efforts at Batiquitos. Arrive early, dress for possible outdoor conditions, and note events are cancelled if it rains.
