San Diego's First Rita's Italian Ice to Open in Carlsbad

Rita's Italian Ice is a popular frozen dessert franchise voted number one by Zagat last year and has over 600 stores on the East coast.

Rita's Italian Ice serves Italian ice, frozen custard, milkshakes, sundaes and more.

The east coast chain's first location in San Diego County will be in Carlsbad near La Costa Canyon High School at 3263 Camino de los Coches.

Owners of the franchised Carlsbad location Sayjal and Karen Patel plan to open the dessert shop in May.
