Castro Valley Track Club Runners to Represent Northern California at Junior Olympics

students Gavin Hill and Cooper Teare, who run for the Castro Valley Track Club (CVTC), have battled their way through a series of tough races this fall, culminating with the Northern California Regionals on Nov. 27, in the Central Valley town of Tulare. After the hard fought race, Hill, Teare and fellow teammate Vincent Friesen of Castro Valley all advanced by making the top 20 cut.

The performance and dedication of these young men puts them in an elite group of only twenty in their age bracket who will be representing Northern California in this year’s Junior Olympics Cross Country Nationals in Myrtle Beach, SC. on Dec. 10.

Both Hill and Teare are seventh graders at Lincoln Middle School, but run for the CVTC where Gavin’s father, Peter Hill, a Lincoln Middle School teacher, is assistant coach.
