Contribution on State Tax Form Equals Aid to Youth Programs of Sheriff's Activities League

The Alameda County Deputy Sheriffs’ Activities League (DSAL) is asking the citizens of Ashland, Cherryland, San Lorenzo and Castro Valley to help the DSAL kids program by making a donation on their 2011 California Resident Income Tax Return form 540 or 540EZ.

As a member of the California Police Activities League (PAL), donations made through the state income tax voluntary contribution donation program will be awarded to the local Police or Sheriff Activities league based on the zip code where the income tax filer resides.

Legislation passed in 2010 helped create this much needed funding source for the (Your PAL) programs. Effective 2011, individuals can designate charitable contributions directly to California Police Activities League chapters by filling in an amount in the Amount box on their personal State Income Tax Form 540 or 540 EZ.

California PAL is a non-profit organization founded 40 years ago by police officers to provide educational and recreational programs for youth ages 5 to 18. Over 300,000 children participate in California PAL’s 122 local chapters.

Youth benefit from this “Cops and Kids” program that connects local law enforcement and volunteers with at-risk youth. Kids lives are changed every day because of the positive outcomes of these programs.

The goal of California PAL is to help local PAL chapters develop programs that effectively connect law enforcement officers with communities they serve.
