The Castro Valley Educational Foundation will award more than 23 scholarships this year to graduating seniors going on to college or trade school programs in the Fall of 2012.
The scholarships range from $200 to $20,000 and are provided by the following local sponsors: , Castro Valley Arts Foundation, CVHS Athletic Boosters, , Castro Valley Educational Foundation, , Dr. Mary Jane Stamm Trust, and several local individuals and families.Â
Castro Valley High School seniors can apply for these scholarships between now and April 1 at www.cvef.org, where they can download a list of scholarships, an application worksheet and online application to fill out.

One application will make the student eligible for many locally-sponsored scholarships.

- $20,000 Dr. Mary Jane Stamm Scholarship: For students who excel academically with financial need. Minimum 3.5 GPA required and submission of SAR ($5k/yr for 4 years)
- $2500 Castro Valley Rotary Scholarships (2): For students of all skills and interests
- NEW $1000 Joe & Elaine Pasqual Education Scholarship: For a student who is interested in a career as a Primary or Secondary School Teacher
- NEW $500 CVHS PTSA Community Service Scholarship:Â For a student who has demonstrated outstanding community service or volunteerism. PTSA membership and minimum 2.5 GPA required.
- $500 Chuck Fehely Memorial Scholarships (2): for student/athletes.
- $500 Dr Joshua Fong Memorial Scholarships (2): for students of Chinese descent.
- $500 Felix Elizalde La Raza Education Fund Scholarships (2): for Latino students interested in mass media (radio, internet, news, magazines, TV, journalism, or related technical fields), and with financial need.
- $500 Castro Valley Educational Foundation Scholarships (2): for students exhibiting academic excellence and interest in the sciences, or those interested in teaching careers.
- $500 Sunrise Rotary Scholarships (2): for well-rounded students of all skills and interests.
- $500 Body By Pam Scholarship: for a CVHS Senior who demonstrates the principles of healthy living and strives to exemplify these principles in his/her everyday life.
- $500 Eden Medical Center Scholarship: For students who seek careers in the health sciences.
- NEW $500 Castro Valley Arts Foundation Scholarship: For graduating students who have participated or supported performing or visual arts events held at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts.
- NEW $250-$1000 CVHS Athletic Boosters/Gene Johnson Scholarships (2+): For student /athletes who have participated in varsity sports at CVHS. Must be enrolled in a college or trade school program.
- $300 Charles Duerig Memorial Scholarship: For a student who has interests in engineering, band, running sports, BoyScouts, mountaineering or attending Columbia University
- $250 Arts & Design Scholarship: for students interested in the Performing or Visual Arts, Graphic Arts and Design, Industrial or Landscape Design, and similar majors.
- $250 Felix Elizalde La Raza Education Fund Arts Scholarship: for Latino students with career interests in graphic design, visual arts, photography, illustration or related fields, and with financial need.
- $200+ Eden Emergency Dept. Nursing Scholarship: for outstanding students interested in a career in nursing
