Redwood Christian High School Receives New Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Released by Redwood Christian High School

has named Drew Sanchez as the new Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. Coach Sanchez served as the Varsity Assistant Coach for RCS this past season.

Drew Sanchez was Junior Varsity Head Coach and Assistant Coach for Christian High in Southern
California before coming to Redwood Christian.

“Coach Sanchez did a great job working with the kids
this past season on the varsity,” said Athletic Director, Jim Cleveland. “He clearly made an impact on
the team. We are blessed to have a coach with his background and knowledge of the game."

Coach Sanchez, and his wife Megan, live in San Lorenzo and have two children. Coach Sanchez received his undergraduate degree from San Diego Christian in 2007 and his Masters of Science in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2009.

As a player for San Diego Christian, Drew was a member of a top 10 team in the nation for National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). His senior season he was 1st team All-Conference and 2nd team All American for NAIA D1.

His senior season he led the nation in assists for NAIA D1 averaging 14 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals per game.

Coach Sanchez played his high school career at Salinas High School where he played for legendary coach Joe Chappell (Most wins in Central Coast Section history).

While at Salinas he received the following high school honors: 1st team all Central Coast Section, Player of the Year (The Californian and Monterey County Herald), 1st Team All-League; Nor Cal top 100 players; averaged 21
points a game his senior year; 1st team All Decade (The Californian and Monterey County Herald); and ranked as the Top 15 point guards Northern California.
