AT&T Deploys 'Green' Vehicles In Castro Valley
Repair and installation vehicles burn compressed national gas and are part of a big company push to reduce the use of emissions-producing equipment.

AT&T has put 50 alternative-fuel vehicles (AFVs) on the road in Castro Valley and Hayward the company said in a press release.
The nationwide telephone giant plans to buy about 8,000 vehicles that burn compressed natural gas instead of other emissions-producing fuels. In the Bay Area it has fielded 710 such vehicles, including those deployed these two areas.
The vehicles are being used by field technicians who install and repair phones and Internet services. Â

The companies has tallied 5,000 AFVs as part of a $565 million 10-year commitment to deploy approximately 15,000 vehicles through 2018.
AT&T's maintenance facility is located at 1661 Doolittle Drive in San Leandro. The vehicles fill up at Clean Energy Fuels at 8515 San Leandro St. in Oakland.
