Bay Area ​Woman Stabs Boyfriend To Death In Self-Defense: Police

The woman told police she was defending herself from being assaulted, according to the Hayward Police Department.

HAYWARD, CA — A woman who allegedly stabbed and killed her boyfriend Saturday in Hayward told police she was defending herself from being assaulted, according to the Hayward Police Department.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Depot Road at about 9 a.m. by a neighbor who reported potential domestic violence in a nearby unit.

The neighbor told dispatchers there was a loud argument between a male and a female and heard things being thrown.

When police arrived, they found a woman in a stairwell of the building, who told officers she was assaulted and had stabbed the man in self-defense, according to a statement from the Hayward Police Department.

The 30-year-old man, who police said was the woman's boyfriend, was found unresponsive in an apartment. He was moved into the hallway, where officers performed first aid until medical personnel arrived, who declared the man dead at the scene.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be medically evaluated.

Police said no arrests had been made, and the case remained under investigation as of Sunday. Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Martinez at 510-293-7176.
